Multi-State
New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont

These three states share three games that are unique to them. While they have other multi-state games, rather than having games that are exclusive to one state, these states have banded together to offer more organized games. In addition, combining three states allows for larger funds and prizes.

When playing Tri-State Megabucks the player chooses six numbers between one and 42. They also choose a bonus number, which increases the winnings for those who match three, four or five numbers. If someone matches all six numbers, he or she wins the jackpot. Drawings take place on Wednesday and Saturday. Players can choose between receiving their winnings in annual installments or one lump sum. Players can subscribe to this game, meaning that they can play their favorite numbers for up to one year.

In Tri-State Heads or Tails the player chooses five numbers from one to 34. He or she then chooses heads or tails. Correctly matching heads or tails doubles the prize amount. In order to win the grand prize, a player must match all five numbers (the bonus doesn’t add anything for those who match all five numbers). As long as there are under three grand prizes winners (those who match all five numbers and heads or tails), each receives $50,000. Drawings take place daily.

Pick 3 and Pick 4 have existed in New Hampshire since 1977. In June, 1995 Maine and Vermont joined New Hampshire to create Tri-State daily numbers. In 2003 a midday drawing was added so that drawings take place twice a day. In these games players choose three or four numbers, depending on which game they are playing. Players then choose their type of wager. Straight wagers mean that the numbers must all match and be in the exact order. Box wagers mean that the numbers can match in any order. In straight/box wagers the numbers can match either way. In front/back pair wagers the first or second part of the numbers must match in the exact order. Players can also choose how much money they want to wager. The larger the wager the player makes, the larger the winnings. Straight wagers allow players to win the most.
